Beatrix & Lloyd - Lupela Lodge

Lloyd and Beatrix had a destination wedding. There is just one rule when it comes to destination weddings...The destination has to be worth the travel. They hit the bulls eye with this destination! The ceremony was held in the most beautiful church in the town of Lady Grey and the reception was held at the Lupela Lodge about 20km's out of town.
I have to give a little background for this wedding because this wasn't just any couple. Beatrix's sister's friend, Minette, booked me to shoot her wedding a few years ago. Around the same time, Beatrix's sister, Vilma, was looking for a wedding photographer and Beatrix recommended that she contact me. I ended up shooting Vilma's wedding too. A year or so later, Beatrix's cousin, Benita, got married and I ended up shooting her wedding as well. So when Beatrix contacted me I was over the moon! This is and will probably always be my favourite group of people to photograph. They are just about the perfect family. Everybody loves everybody and they are all so good looking and so friendly! I feel like part of the family, I know all of their names and they know mine and it's not like this is a small group of people.
The whole family loves to travel and I have travelled quite a bit to photograph their weddings. So far I have travelled 7488km to photograph their family weddings and I will walk 500 more...
Beatrix and Lloyd's wedding was a family DIY wedding and everything looked perfect. They even had a spit braai at a local restaurant in Lady Grey the evening before the wedding because...why not spend the maximum amount of time with the ones you love?
On the day of the wedding everything went according to plan, well almost everything except the part where myself and the videographer travelled an hour to the house where Lloyd got ready. The road was quite rough! Storms earlier in the year destroyed most of the roads in the area, but we survived.
I got to catch up with all the previous couples I photographed and the rest is history....
